Lake Louise, Alberta— In the past few years, Lake Louise Ski Resort has assembled one of the most modern lift fleets in Canada.
Last month, Lake Louise Ski Resort announced that a pivotal chairlift is undergoing a refurbishment this summer. The Top of the World Express chairlift is being refurbished. This detachable high-speed six-pack chairlift serves intermediate, advanced, and expert terrain and connects skiers to the backside.
First off, more chairs will be added to the line. This will total a 10% increase in capacity.
Secondly, the electrical and control system is being replaced. This is similar to the last year’srenovation of the Glacier Chair’s electrical and control system, which led to a 50% reduction in downtime.
These changes will reduce the lift’s downtime, increase the number of guests carried per hour, and ultimately allow people to get more runs in.
Lastly, a new drive system is being added, which is more energy-efficient and helps with Lake Louise’s sustainability push.
Lake Louise used the announcement to also tease some other big, yet unspecified offseason projects.
Recent Lake Louise Lift Projects
The news follows what has been a busy past several years at Lake Louise.
Last winter saw the introduction of the Richardson’s Ridge expansion, which opened with a detachable high-speed quad chairlift. As mentioned above, the Glacier chair also underwent a refurbishment last offseason. During the 2024-25 season, the Pipestone Express debuted. This is a detachable high-speed six-pack bubble chairlift; this is the ski resort’s first bubble chairlift. The 2021-22 season saw the opening of the Juniper Express, a detachable high-speed quad that added new mellow terrain to the lower mountain.
