Tragic news out of Alaska where 77-year-old Anchorage resident died Friday after falling off cliff near Hope.
On July 31, 2026, at 1:33 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that 77-year-old Anchorage resident Joyce Weiss was hiking with a family member when she tripped and fell off a 200-foot cliff in the area of the Palmer Lakes Trail.
US Forest Service Rangers, Wildlife Troopers and members of the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group responded to the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Weiss’ body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office. No foul play is suspected.
