Steamboat Springs, Colorado — While hotel bookings were down last winter out West, demand remains high for quality lodging in ski towns. This is demonstrated by a new Hyatt development in Steamboat Springs.
Earlier this month, a groundbreaking was held for a new Hyatt Studios. Situated at 1801 Lincoln Avenue, the site had been home to the Windemere Landscape & Garden Center. However, that business closed in September 2021. According to Steamboat Pilot & Today, it then served as a temporary location for businesses like Yampa Valley Recycles Depot and Garcia Construction before construction started on the Hyatt. The 2.71-acre plot of land will be home to an approximately 114-room hotel that’s spread out across four stories and 57,971 square feet.
Some of the amenities will include a storage room for skis and bikes, a grab-and-go marketplace with various food and drink options, a fitness center, an outdoor patio with two hot tubs, fireplaces, and hang-out spaces, and a laundry room.
“Breaking ground on this hotel is an exciting milestone for Hyatt Studios and reflects the momentum we’re building with developers like Caliber, whose commitment is accelerating the growth of the brand,” said Kevin Schramm, Senior Vice President of Growth for Hyatt’s Essentials portfolio. “Hyatt Studios was created to meet the growing demand for modern extended-stay accommodations in secondary and tertiary markets while delivering a compelling offering for guests and an efficient operating model for owners.”
Each room will come equipped with a full-size kitchen. There is increased demand for extended-stay accommodations, which are hotels that cater to vacationers and those who are working in communities and transitioning into permanent housing.

The hotel is a Hyatt franchise, but isn’t being developed by the hotel brand. That honor goes to Caliber, which is a real estate management firm that secures the financing and helps develop the property. This will be one of the fifteen Hyatt hotels that they plan to develop.

The goal is to open the hotel during the second half of next year.
