Ingonish Beach, Nova Scotia — Following its revival in 2021, Cape Smokey has been making waves for its major additions. This has included a new gondola and slopeside accommodations. However, its biggest addition yet could be coming soon.

Yesterday, Cape Smokey showed a video of a mysterious cut line next to its existing skiable terrain. All they’re saying is that “skiers and snowboarders have a lot to be excited about.”

However, this expansion has been mentioned in the past. In an episode of the Selling Snow podcast from earlier this year, CEO Martin Kevjal said they’re working on a terrain expansion intended to bring in more overnight visitors. He did mention that initial trail clearing was planned for this summer.

Here are some photos of the expansion, which Cape Smokey shared on their stories yesterday.

The potential lift line.
Possibly one of the new trails.

We still don’t know much about the expansion, such as the terrain type and the lift that will serve it. However, it likely won’t be long before we find out more about this new development.
