Nearly 10 months after being reported missing, the body of a hiker has been recovered in Squamish, B.C. 20-year-old Vancouver resident Alexander Nguyen was sightseeing with his parents in Shannon Falls Provincial Park on July 1, 2025 when he vanished without a trace.
He had wandered away from his family to explore the area and his cellphone pinged at the Sea to Sky Summit, roughly 10 km from the Sea to Sky Gondola, an area very technical terrain.
A comprehensive search was launched over three days at the time of the disappearance with Squamish Search and Rescue deploying members from 10 different teams across the south coast to find the missing man.
On April 24, local authorities were notified that human remains had been found near Shannon Falls. The remains were recovered the following day and confirmed to be Nguyen. No foul play is suspected and the RCMP investigation is now closed.
