Palisades Tahoe in California is closed due to weather.

California’s ski resorts have seen some truly wild weather over the past 24 hours, and it’s nowhere near ending. At Palisades Tahoe, the morning report showed 18 inches of new snow in just 24 hours, and the storm is nowhere near ending. The majority of snow will have fallen by Wednesday, but there’s a good chance it’ll keep snowing until Friday.

As a result of the heavy snow, Palisades started the day with all lifts on hold, and they still haven’t opened. In fact, thanks to the snow conditions, visibility, and wind, all lifts and Palisades and Alpine will remain completely closed throughout Tuesday.

Palisades Tahoe isn’t the only resort closed today, either. Kirkwood, Sugarbowl, Donner Ski Ranch, and more are closed in the Tahoe area. Beyond Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain further south is closed due to deep snow and storm condition after 27 inches of snow have fallen in the last 24 hours.

Some ski areas are expected to see up to 7-10 feet of new snow in some areas before the end of the week. The new snow will certainly do wonders for resorts and ski areas that have been struggling with the weather so far this season.
