An iconic Halloween prank caused a stir in Bozeman, Montana, this weekend after a dinosaur statue from a Sinclair gas station found its way to the top of a 3 mile long trail just outside the city.

According to MTN News, a group of unknown individuals stole the Sinclair dinosaur at approximately 3:30am Saturday morning. The next morning around sunrise, several hikers of the M Trail found the dino next to the Montana State College “M” structure built on the mountainside.

Bridger Aerospace took to the skies to try to spot the statue, only to find another group of individuals carrying the dinosaur back down the mountain.

The green dino was returned to the Sinclair gas station unharmed, and while the owners reportedly had quite a laugh over the incident, they don’t want to see it happen again.

Dinosaurs have been a part of Sinclair’s marketing since the 1930s, but the green fiberglass dinos didn’t start popping up around the country until the 1960s. The Montana State University “M” came around in 1915, when some engineering students decided it would be a great way to leave the Class of 1918 with a bit of a name.
