There are few things that get me more fired up for ski season than the annual Teton Gravity Research (TGR) film tour. This year, they’re celebrating in a big way. Why wouldn’t they? It is, after all their 30th birthday! To celebrate the big anniversary, TGR just dropped their 30th annual ski and snowboard film, Pressure Drop. Just a few weeks removed from the epic world premiere weekend at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the crew is taking the stoke on the road, including two big stops right here in New York City.
TGR Pressure Drop: A Celebration 30 Years in the Making
For three decades, TGR has defined what it means to live on the edge. Chasing huge lines, filming jaw-dropping descents they have inspired skiers and snowboarders around the world to push a little harder and go a little bigger.
As TGR co-founder Todd Jones put it:
“We’re celebrating our 30th Anniversary with Pressure Drop, and it’s a showcase for the athletes who have been with us for years alongside the newcomers. It’s always awesome to capture that in a film, and we’re stoked to share it with the world.”
From Jackson Hole to Times Square
After premiering during Far Out Fest in Teton Village, Pressure Drop is now on the move across the U.S. and Canada and next week they’ll be visiting the Big Apple. With two marquee showings in New York City you can bet the energy will by sky scraping high for the East Coast skiers in attendance.
If you’ve never been to a TGR screening, think of it as a full-on ski party complete with big mountain energy, live music, giveaways, and a crowd that’s as hyped as you are for winter.
The World’s Best on Snow
Filmed across Jackson Hole, Norway, Alaska, Interior British Columbia, and Tahoe, Pressure Drop is an creative compilation of massive lines, deep powder, and creative progression.
Of course there is no shortage of industry superstars throughout the film. Pressure Drop features a stacked lineup of athletes including Kai Jones, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Jeremy Jones, John Jackson, Maggie Voisin, Nick McNutt, and more, each pushing limits in their own way.
Expect:
- Alaskan spines that defy logic
- Stacked pillow lines that’ll make your knees weak
- Massive cliffs and couloirs
- And plenty more of that signature TGR style.
More Than a Movie. It’s a Movement.
Pressure Drop is far from your average highlight reel. It’s a celebration of everything that’s made TGR a cornerstone of mountain culture for 30 year. Gritty and creative it showcases TGR’s relentless passion for life in the mountains.
Born from a dream (and funded by Alaskan commercial fishing back in the day), TGR’s story mirrors that of every skier and snowboarder who’s ever chased a storm or hiked one more line just because it looked too good to pass up.
