Congratulations to Austrian wingsuit pilot, stuntman, and sports scientist Peter Salzmann who just set a new wingsuit BASE-jump speed world record.

On Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 Salzburg native challenged the fastest camera drone in the world to keep up with his jump from the north face of the Eiger and he achieved 215mph during his 6801 foot decent into the valley. Salzmann donned a specially developed wingsuit for the stunt that provided extra speed during the 35 seconds of free fall.

The world record is confirmation that we can keep pushing the boundaries with innovation and hard work.” -Peter Salzmann

A tracker was integrated into Salzmann’s wingsuit to precisely measure all data and a radar gun was also used to track his exact speed.

“Every little movement decides whether you can finish the flight cleanly. It’s absolute body tension, total control – and the knowledge that you can’t afford to make a mistake.” -Peter Salzmann

The speed Salzmann was able to achieve was obviously incredible but so was his ability to slow down for a safe landing. Deploying a parachute at 215mph would have been life-threatening and Salzmann expertly reduce his speed to around 62mph before pulling the rip cord and landing safely.

Salzmann historic fight was accompanied by a special drone used to track extremely fast objects such as F1 racing cars. Salzmann pushed the world’s fastest camera drone to its limits. Cheers to Salzmann, job well done!

About Peter Salzmann:

Peter Salzmann is one of the world’s leading wingsuit pilots and a true innovator. After jumping onto cushions from his parents’ balcony as a child, he became a skydiver and BASE jumper at 20. He quickly racked up over 500 jumps worldwide before shifting his focus to wingsuit flying, where he is now contributing to the rapid development of the sport.
