The Canadian province of Manitoba isn’t usually associated with skiing, at least not in the way that Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec are. But the area has its share of ski areas like Asessippi Ski Resort. It also has it’s own history of lost and abandoned ski areas.
The Abandoned Manitoba 2 series visits ghost towns, vacant buildings, and other historic sites from Manitoba’s past. In the below episode, Gordon Goldsborough took a look at Manitoba’s ski train that Winnipeggers once took to enjoy a day on the slopes. He sought out abandoned slopes near La Riviere, an area in Manitoba. He located the abandoned trails that were once skied beginning in 1935.
