Explorer Gondola lower terminal under construction.

Big Sky, Montana – Work on Big Sky Resort’s new Explorer Gondola continues to go strong, with the newest update clarifying that foundations on the lower terminal are complete and the construction on the terminal itself are well underway.

The construction of the Explorer Gondola lower terminal is well underway. With the structural steel, foundations, and pre-cast walls complete, teams have successfully concluded the essential structural work that forms the launchpad of this transformational project.

The next big steps for the Explorer Gondola are to get the terminal fully put up where the gondolas will actually be spinning. The new lift is set to open during the 2025/26 ski and snowboard season if all continues on schedule.

Once complete, the Explorer Gondola is expected to move over 3,200 skiers per hour, connecting skiers and riders to the bottom of the Lone Peak Tram. Construction on the project began during the summer of 2023.
