Killington, Vermont — One of New England’s most famous ski town restaurants is now under new ownership.

Today, Killington Resort announced that they have sold the Wobbly Barn to Chris Karr of The Karr Group. The new ownership group has ensured that the restaurant’s full-time employees will retain their jobs. The restaurant is scheduled to reopen next winter, while the nightclub’s future plans are under consideration.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to enhance the on-mountain experience at Killington, including the replacement of the Ledgewood Yurt, the acquisition of additional snowmaking and grooming equipment, and the replacement of the surface lift at the Snowshed learning area. This will bring the new ownership group’s investment at the ski resort up to $38 million.

For those worried about the group, they shouldn’t be, as The Karr Group is well-versed in Killington’s culture. Their existing businesses in the ski town include Pickle Barrel Night Club, Jax Food and Games, The Foundry at Summit Pond, Charity’s 1887 Saloon, Mad Hatter’s Scoops, and Waterwheel Trading Post.

Opened back in 1963, the Barn was built out of ten different barn structures from around New England. Located on Killington Road, it’s known during the wintertime as a delicious steakhouse and nightclub.

The Wobbly Barn experienced some inconsistent hours while Killington operated it, so I’m curious to see whether the Karr Group will operate it more frequently.
