A dramatic avalanche rescue was captured on camera after a couple was buried near the Turquoise Lagoon about 10 miles from Ushuaia, Argentina.
Three mountaineers, two of which were expert mountain guides, saw a buried glove moving a distance away when they were at the top of Carabajal Hill. They immediately began working to rescue the duo, contacting the provincial assistance commission and heading to the location. Working in a coordinated manner, the mountaineers were able to dig up the two victims.
According to the Ushuaia Relief Commission and Search and Rescue Specialist Group, the couple did not have the appropriate avalanche equipment on them including an avalanche beacon. Authorities reemphasize the importance of carrying the proper safety equipment including an avalanche beacon, shovel, probe, proper winter clothing, GPS, and alerting others your planned route before departure.
