Cardrona Alpine Resort opens new Soho Express 6-seater chairlift

Congratulations to New Zealand’s Cardrona Alpine Resort who cut the ribbon on their new Soho Express 6-seater chairlift over the weekend. The high speed Doppelmayr chairlift is the finishing touch on a decade long effort to expand the resort’s terrain offerings into the Soho Basin.

The terrain expansion adds 150 hectares to the resort, bringing their total skiable area to 615 hectares. Locals were on hand for the ribbon cutting and performed a ceremonial Māori haka dance to celebrate the occasion.

Kia ora Soho. It’s been years in the making but today we had the new Soho Express Chairlift blessed. Here’s a sneak peak of the terrain and some of the beautiful celebrations that went down! Huge thanks to the team and all those that came along to witness this key moment in Cardrona’s history, including Doppelmayr, the Lee and Hutchins families, the Hon. Louise Upston and Kāi Tahu.” -Cardrona Alpine Resort
