An out-of-state camping surchase was added by state law in 2022 for RV campsites and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department expanded it to all sites beginning in 2025. The 25% surcharge to parking permit fees will require out-of-state visitors to pay $12.50 a day, $37.50 for an annual parking permite, or $62.50 for a 24-month permit.

Oregon residents will still pay the parking permit rate of $10 per day, $30 for an annual permit, or $50 for a 24-month permit. Existing permits will be honored until they expire, though the 24-month parking permit may be eliminated starting in 2026.

Commissioners of the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission are appointed by the Oregon Governor and confirmed by the State Senate, serving a four-year term after approval. The commission was created in 1989 to create and establish policies and rules necessary to the department’s duties in addition to setting fees, acquiring property, promoting outdoor recreation policy, and appointing the OPRD director.
