This weekend marked the last for the ski season in California, Colorado, and Wyoming. Mammoth Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, and Beartooth Basin all wrapped up their on-snow season with one final day on Sunday, June 15. Runs were skied, ponds were skimmed, and parties were had, but don’t worry. While nearly every single ski resort in North America is closed, there’s still one hold out that could go all summer long.
Set high on the slopes of Mt. Hood in Oregon, Timberline Lodge offers the longest ski season in North America. While the winter season generally begins in early to mid-November and ends in May, the Palmer Express high-speed quad operates in the spring and summer only, allowing the ski area to operate oftentimes through the beginning of September.
Both the Palmer Express lift and Magic Mile lift operate daily from 7am to 2pm throughout the summer, with both private and public lanes open every day. Mile Park, Mile Public Park, and the Freestyle Training Center are open from 10am to 2pm. Terrain is limited to expert and intermediate throughout the warmer months. There is no beginner terrain available.
