Baby moose saved @ Homer, Alaska
Baby moose saved @ Homer, Alaska

When Alaskan bush pilot Spencer Warren showed up to work and discovered a baby moose stuck between the pontoon of his float plane and the dock he immediately wanted to lend a helping hand to the distressed animal but faced a major obstacle to his rescue efforts, a 1,300 pound protective mother.

Warren knew better than to challenge the mother moose by himself and called the Homer Police Department who showed up shortly after. Working together with officers Morgan Tracy and Charles Leethey, the group managed to distract the mother moose and position a police cruiser between her and the struggling juvenile. With the mother temporarily out of the picture, Warren and an Officer Lee quickly swooped in and easily pulled the baby moose to safety.

What a wild morning. Had to save a baby moose that fell into the lake and got stuck between the float plane and the dock. Thanks to the Homer PD for distracting the mama moose and the officer for helping me pull the baby out – Spencer Warren

With the moose safely on dry ground Warren shared a quick celebratory fist bump with the Officer Lee and they were back to their job patrolling the streets of this incredible town on the shores of Kachemak Bay on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula.
