June is National Safety Month and the folks at Grand Teton National Park are fully embracing in the occasion as park staff gathered near park headquarters this week to participate in “hands-on training to refresh some of the skills we don’t use every day but need to be ready to use at any time.”
Highlights from the training day included proper fire extinguisher use, practice bear spray deployment, practicing responding to possible hantavirus or rabies exposure and bit of driving training. Grand Teton pointed out that approximately 25% of vehicle accidents involve poor backing techniques and set up a little cone course for rangers to work on their reverse driving skills.
