Chris Benchetler‘s Mountains of the Moon project is shaping up to be one of the most innovative action sports movies we’ve ever seen, with athletes climbing, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, and more in large 20-pound light suits while lasers and light shows are projected around them.

The “Ship of Fools” series documents the behind the scenes of movie, with each episode focusing on different ideas, athletes, and sports. Episode 17 of 32 shares the process behind a remarkable climbing segment while casually mentioning the rattlesnakes and scorpions that were all too common on the set.

About the Mountains of the Moon Project:

“From the fevered imagination of artist, professional freeskier and filmmaker, Chris Benchetler, comes a unique cinematic vision, featuring the world’s greatest action sports athletes in a host of surreal and otherworldly environments, set to the timeless music of the Grateful Dead. Pushing boundaries of what can be done at night with cameras, lights, lasers, and animation, Mountains of the Moon transports viewers to a world of infinite beauty and possibility, ultimately celebrating our shared humanity and connectedness.“
