Skiing the Bruneau Sand Dunes In Idaho.
Skiing the Bruneau Sand Dunes In Idaho.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado is home to the tallest sand dunes in North America, but Idaho’s Bruneau Dunes State Park has the tallest single-structured sand dune in North America. It reaches a height of 470 feet above the surrounding desert floor making for great sand skiing and sandboarding opportunities.

Bruneau Dunes State Park offers one of the longest camping seasons in the Idaho Parks system. Visitors can explore the dunes by foot or rent sandboards in the Visitor Center. There’s horseback riding, fishing for bluegill in the lakes at the foot of the dune, and night sky observation at the Bruneau Dunes Observatory.

Sandboard rentals are available in the park until 3pm and boards must be returned by 4pm. Guests can rent a board for $15 or two for $25. Both stand up and sled style boards are available.
