Tragic news out of Alberta, Canada where a 34-year-old Lake Louise resident died on the morning of May 27th in a backcountry skiing accident near Moraine Lake in Banff National Park.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police reports Parks Canada received an emergency call at around 7am of a female skier falling a “considerable distance.” Parks Canada visitor safety specialist responded to the scene along with a STARS air ambulance but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s body was extracted via a long line from Alpine Helicopters.
