Yesterday morning, both of Colorado’s last open ski resorts woke up to more than half a foot of new snow on their trails despite it being mid-May. This morning both resorts woke up to second day of refills on the mountain.
At Arapahoe Basin, 5 inches of new snow have fallen in the past 24 hours, bringing their 48 hour total up to a foot and their base depth up to 58 inches. The basin has more trails open today then they did yesterday morning, with 31 of 147 trails and 4 of 9 lifts spinning. Arapahoe Basin is yet to announce a closing date and Gay Basin is set to go down this upcoming weekend.
Winter Park Resort reportedly saw a bit more snow, with 7 inches falling in the past 24 hours and 16 inches falling over the past 2 days. Despite the new snow, the resort is planning to shutdown operations for the winter after this Sunday, May 18. Skiing and snowboarding is available on Mary Jane and in Parsenn Bowl, with 6 of 24 lifts open and 53 of 171 trails.
