Plane nearly collides with skiers in the Swiss Alps

The aviation and state authorities have been contacted after a reckless pilot nearly collided with a group of backcountry skiers in Switzerland. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 on the slopes of Monte Rosa at 11:52am.

The group was ascending Colle Sesia at an elevation of 13,877 feet when a ski equipped Piper PA-18 Super Club came swooping in for a snow landing. Without coming to a complete stop, the plane completed a high speed taxi turn and came barreling down on the line of skiers. With only feet to spare on either wingtip, the pilot laced through the skiers and left the scene.

The man who took the video contacted the proper authorities and is willing to help with the investigation of this dangerous high alpine stunt:

“I am at the disposal of the Italian, Swiss, Enac authorities. I have the original video of which I am the author and I confirm that it is all true without any modification. I repeat, it could have been a terrible accident.” –Luca Calzone
