It certainly feels a lot like spring today in Denver, with temperatures reaching well above 70°F this afternoon. But don’t let that fool you into thinking winter weather is gone. Later this week into this weekend, Denver, and more importantly the Colorado mountains, could get some serious snowfall.

The official National Weather Service forecast has an expected snowfall range of between 2-5 inches for Denver from today, Wednesday, through Saturday, April 16, at 6am. Further north and closer to the mountains, Boulder is looking at between 5-8 inches, and Estes Park is looking at 5-9″. But it’s the ski areas that we really care about.

Aspen is looking at just about 3-6 inches of snow heading into their final weekend, while both Vail and Rabbit Ears Pass are expected to see up to 10 inches. Around Nederland, home to Eldora Mountain, 6-11 inches of snow could fall, while the area around the Eisenhower Tunnel could see between 9-14 inches.

Things look wild on the high end amount forecast (1 in 10 chance (10%) of higher snowfall). If it comes to that much, Aspen could see up to 8 inches and Vail could see up to a foot, while both Rabbit Ears Pass and Nederland could see up to 13 inches. The area around Eisenhower Tunnel, still the winner, could see up to 16 inches of total snowfall.
