Grand Canyon National Park has announced a steep increase to its campground fees with some rates going up 65%. Beginning on May 1st campsites fees for a tent or RV at Mather, Desert View, and North Rim campgrounds will go up from $18 to $30 per night.
The increase follows a period of public comment on frontcountry camping fees back in November and December 2024. The fees had remained unchanged for the past 20 years. Under the authority of the Federal Lands and Recreation Enhancement Act, Grand Canyon National Park retains 80% of the recreation fees it collects. The additional funds generated by the fee increase will be used for projects to improve the visitor experience, services, facilities and safety.
The fees for camping at group and walk-up sites will go unchanged at $55 and campers who buy annual access passes or have senior passes will still get a 50% discount on any campgrounds. Read the full press release from Grand Canyon National Park below.

Grand Canyon National Park Statement:
Grand Canyon National Park will implement a fee increase for frontcountry standard campsites at Desert View, North Rim, and Mather Campgrounds starting May 1, 2025. Rates for standard campsites will increase to $30 per night. Group sites will remain $55 per night.
Recreation fees provide essential funding for maintaining and improving facilities and visitor services. Projects supported by these fees include campground repairs and improvements, increasing accessibility, and facility restoration. This fee increase will help ensure the park continues to enhance visitor services.
Park staff gathered public comments on the proposed fee increase in November and December 2024. The last major rate adjustment occurred in 2005. For more information on this rate change, visit ParkPlanning – Campground Fee Increase at Grand Canyon National Park.
