Thanks to the folks at Avalanche Canada for this quick reminder to give your avalanche gear a once over and perform a few quick summer storage procedures to ensure everything is in tiptop shape when the snow starts flying in the fall.
Make sure to remove the batteries of your transceiver and inspect for corrosion, check your probe and shovel for wear and tear, and follow manufactures instructions for storing your avalanche airbag backpack. Take a few minutes to follow these steps and remind your backcountry crew to follow suit.
“It’s tempting to throw your avalanche pack into a dark corner at the end of winter and ignore it until the fall, but a little maintenance now goes a long way to keeping your gear running smoothly. Good summer storage routines make for easier winter prep.“
