Scary moment caught on video at Mammoth Mountain where a snowboarder overconfidently charging down a slope found himself in an uncontrolled free fall through rocky terrain after coming in hot on a convex roll and inadvertently hitting a cliff.
This is an excellent example of why it is important to ride conservatively in terrain you are unfamiliar with and to scout zones before attempting to descend them fluidly. Thankfully the snowboarder managed to avoid any heavy impacts and was okay.
Discretion is the better part of valor when it comes to situations like this so remember folks, there is no shame in speed checking while making your way down slopes when you are not 100% certain of what may lie below.
