Heavy snowfall at Mammoth Mountain.
Heavy snowfall at Mammoth Mountain.

The recent storm hitting California has brought a monstrous amount of snowfall to the state’s ski resorts, and that includes Mammoth Mountain. There’s been so much snow, in fact, that Miles Weaver was able to capture a video of a near completely snow-blocked doorway on the mountain.

As of Thursday, March 13, the storm had brought 23-30 inches of new snow to Mammoth Mountain. 15 lifts were able to open throughout the day on Thursday, with lift crews battling the heavy snowfall, strong winds, and low visibility. But as the Mammoth snow report says, it was well worth it for the fresh powder.

The snow is expecting to continue into today, with another few inches expected throughout the night last night. With snowfall this heavy, it’s important to stay cautious on the mountain. Ski/ride with a buddy, keep them in your sight at all times, stay in open terrain and within the resort boundaries, and be aware of tree wells.
