Professional skier Drew Petersen proved once again that America’s steepest tree cut run is no match for his talents.
Rambo at Crested Butte Mountain Resort is often considered the steepest tree cut run in the United States, featuring a consistent 55-degree pitch and lots of moguls, rocks, and trees. The notoriously unforgiving run is never groomed and often features a warning towards its difficulty at the summit, explaining that it is not a choice run of most staff at the mountain. Nonetheless, Drew Petersen finds himself hitting the ski run at least once a year, every year.
As Drew himself mentions, it looks like Rambo got a bit of a haircut. Usually the run features a lot more shrubs, bushes, and trees sticking out from the snow, but this year it seems limited to rocks and stumps. Not that that makes it all that much easier. It’s still steep, still has terrible coverage, and still has plenty of places for a free base grind on the bottom of your skis.
