Jones, Michigan — After being under family ownership for nearly six decades, Swiss Valley is officially in new hands. However, it’ll remain with a family-run company.

Yesterday, Swiss Valley Ski & Snowboard Area announced that the Perfect family, which operates Perfect North Slopes and Timberline Mountain, will take over operations. As part of this new partnership, Perfect North passholders will get 50% off Swiss Valley lift tickets.

Perfect North Slopes first opened in 1980. The Perfect family grew it from a surface lift operation to multiple chairlifts and 23 trails. Over the years, the Indiana ski area has become well-regarded for its snowmaking infrastructure and customer service.

Then came the revival of Timberline Mountain. After filing for bankruptcy, the Perfect family bought it in 2019. Reopened during the 2020-21 season, they have added two new chairlifts, expanded the lodge, and drastically improved the snowmaking infrastructure.

Swiss Valley is by no means a giant ski area. The Michigan ski area only features 12 runs, five lifts, and a vertical drop of 265 feet. However, they do already have snowmaking and lights for night skiing on every trail. Perfect North does have experience running a small mountain, so this sounds like a great fit for the Michigan ski area.
