Bolton, Vermont — While Jay Peak has been getting all the headlines for its snowy winter, it’s not the only ski resort in Vermont that’s seen a lot of snowfall this season.

This past weekend, Bolton Valley Resort surpassed 300 inches of snowfall. This is a notable stat because it’s well above Western ski resorts in terms of snowfall this winter. Over the past week, Bolton Valley has received nearly two feet of new snow.

Since being bought back by the DesLauriers family in 2017, they’ve put lots of money into making this plan one of the best independent ski resorts in the country. David Goodman of the New York Times just wrote an in-depth piece about Bolton Valley, which you can read here.

Bolton Valley wasn’t the only Vermont ski resort to surpass 300 inches of snowfall last week, as Smugglers’ Notch also surpassed 300 inches. The Vermont ski resort has received 18 inches of snowfall in the past six days. Smuggs season snowfall total currently sits at 304″.

Interestingly, Stowe Mountain Resort hasn’t reached 300 inches yet. So far, they’ve recorded 279 inches of snowfall this winter. However, that’s not to say they haven’t had a great winter, as the Mt. Mansfield Snow Stake reached 100 inches of snow for only the third time in recorded history.

While this week will unfortunately bring rain to Bolton, Smuggs, and the rest of New England, March can be a snowy month for New England. We’ll have to see if this is just a bump on the road or a sign that spring is coming to the Northeast.
