Legendary professional skier Glen Plake is on a skiing roadtrip across the American West sponsored by Elan Skis where he is visiting mom and pop resorts in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana to celebrate ski culture and the spirit of community.
Glen stopped by Brian Head Resort in Utah and got to chatting with a ski patroller and expressed his deep appreciation for the work they do. Unlike much of the skiing public, Glen is well aware of all the work they do in the predawn hours “people have no idea whats going on when they’re asleep.” Ski patrol regularly put their lives at risk working with explosives to open up the ski areas.
The way Glen sees it there are three ways to ski for living:
“I got the golden ticket, i ski for a living but there’s two other ways to ski for a living, to be a ski instructor or a ski patrol so its great to see you guys out doing what you love and thats skiing.”
Remember folk ski patrol isn’t the fun police, they are folks that keep up safe on the mountain and help us out in our times of need. Show them the respect and appreciation they deserve.
