Lukas Janulaitis finishes his 71st hour of Last Skier Standing.

New Hampshire’s Lukas Janulaitis was officially declared the winner of White Mountain Ski Co‘s “Last Skier Standing” (sponsored by Norrona) after 71 hours of suffering at Black Mountain of Maine.

The Last Skier Standing is a skimo competition that asks skiers to go up and down the Allagash Trail (1.5 miles/1,200 vertical) in an hour, every hour, until they’re unable to complete the lap in the allotted time. To win, you must complete at least one more lap than everyone else in the competition. Sleep is hardly an option, breaks are minimal, and the racers are unbelievable.

Lukas Janulaitis was declared the winner after his 71st lap, beating Jacob Walsh of Massachusetts who stayed with him through the third night. Walsh DNF’d after his 70th lap, or 70th hour, in the competition.

In 2024, the Last Skier Standing was Justin Lagassey, who was able to continue for a total of 76 brutal hours. Congrats to Lukas on the big win and to everyone who competed for being willing to put themselves through such a hardcore competition.
