Tip of the cap to this Utah mountain biker who was out for winter ride on January 20th west of Green River and Highway 191 when he came upon a bighorn sheep in need of aid.
Mike Nordenstrom had pulled over at scenic spot along the San Rafael River to snap a quick picture when he noticed the bighorn sheep stuck in the icy river. Nordenstrom hopped off his e-bike and snapped into action using a tree trunk to help lever the animal out of its frozen predicament:
“I grabbed that tree trunk with my left hand, and with my right, I reached over and grabbed his horn. I just started pulling, he kicked and struggled, but in a seamless moment, he came right up out of the water and onto the ice shelf.”
His quick thinking strategy proved effective and bighorn sheep was freed. Excellent work, cheers to Mr. Nordenstrom!
