Tragic news out of southern Oregon where a 76-year-old man died while skiing at Mt. Ashland Ski Area.

The man was skiing on an advanced trail underneath the Windsor Chairlift when he collided with a tree. Mt. Ashland reports the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Mt. Ashland ski patrol arrived shortly after the collision and began administering medical aid. They were joined by members of the Ashland Fire and Rescue as they attempted to resuscitate the man. An emergency helicopter crew arrived on scene and the victim was airlifted to the resort’s medical room where he was pronounced deceased.

The man’s identity has not been made public. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.
