Skier encounters wolf @ French ski resort

Intense video from the slopes of France where a skier had a close encounter with a wolf at the Flaine Ski Station in the Haute-Savoie region.

Wolves were nearly hunted to extinction in this area of the French Alps in the 1930s but their population has rebounded since the 1990s when wolves migrated from neighboring Italy. The wolf population in France has been steadily growing since their reestablishment and with recent estimates indicating 500+ adult wolves throughout the country.

Wolf packs exist in all of France’s major mountain ranges and sightings have also been reported at Morzine Ski Resort near the Swiss border. Thankfully this skier who was on a collision course with a wolf at Flaine redirected at the last moment and passed by without incident. The encounter was momentary and both parties went their separate ways.
