Josh Daiek’s first foray into hitting road gaps went down in back in 2019 when he sent it huge over Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe, California. It was a banner year for snow and he managed to clear 150 feet from takeoff to landing with a 100 foot vertical drop.
The experience opened Josh’s eyes to the possibility of other road gaps in the area and he decided his next objective would necessitate a high powered winch and BASE jump parachute to pull off. Given that he didn’t land it on his skis, Josh knew this followup to his 2019 road gap would draw criticism but he doesn’t mind. He had a vision and he executed that vision.
“You could say I’ve developed a thing for road gaps. We all have dreams, but we don’t all dream the same way. Some will praise this stunt, others will criticize it—but at the end of the day, it’s simple: I had a vision. I put in the work to train and execute it, and here we are. Was it perfect? No. Was it a failure? Definitely not. To me, this is a win—a step closer to perfecting a dream that many would call impossible. I hope you enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at what it took to bring this jump to life.” -Josh Daiek
