A woman was issued a summons by Summit County Sheriff’s Deputies after sneaking into a neighbors hot tub and using it for around 30 minutes during the evening.

According to the Summit County Justice Files, a man reported a trespassing individual who had used his hot tub for around 30 minutes. He captured and provided surveillance footage, including both photos and video, of the suspect.

While deputies could not immediately identify the suspect, they were able to find her the next day. She was confirmed to be a neighbor of the man, and was issued a summons for trespassing without incident.

An additional incident reported in the Justice Files included a report of a woman who called Property Management for a condominium in the Silverthorne area, reporting that a bear had broken into her rental unit and injured her son.

Division of Wildlife responded to the scene but found no signs of a bear at the unit or in the area. When deputies called the woman back, she sounded calm and claimed to know nothing of the incident. She also claimed that she had been getting calls from law enforcement officers all afternoon, referencing random 9-1-1 calls that she claims she did not make.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office believes this was a “Swatting” case, or hoax phone calls that report serious crimes often in an attempt to trick emergency services into sending a large-scale response to the false scene.

The Justice Files is a weekly summary of notable police activity that aims to inform, educate, engage and protect the local community and visitors alike through transparency. This information is shared to develop and encourage community involvement and foster a sense of security and trust in the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.”
