Sable Altura Fire Rescue provided assistance to Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue in the recovery of a young male who fell approximately 40-50 feet into a missile silo south of E. Quincy Ave.

The rescue took place in the afternoon of Wednesday, January 1. Upon arrival, Sable Altura crew members built a rope system and sent two people down into what is believed to the be exhaust vent tunnel for a decommissioned Titan Missile Facility.

The male had fallen around 40-50 feet into this tunnel. His injuries were assesed and a harness was attached, allowing Bennet-Watkins and sable staff to bring the individual and the rescue team back to the surface with the help of South Metro Fire Rescue.

A reminder…the military history on the eastern plains of Colorado, is better left to the history books. PLEASE do not think for any moment, that these are safe environments to enter or explore.
