Park City, Utah — Deer Valley’s Expanded Excellence era has officially begun.

On New Year’s Eve, Deer Valley Resort opened the first phase of its East Village expansion. This included the grand opening of the Keetley Express and Aurora chairlifts. The Keetley Express is Deer Valley’s first bubble chairlift. The Doppelmayr bubble chairlift seats six and features very comfy heated seats. It gives skiers access to the Mayflower and Sultan Express chairlifts. The Aurora fixed-grip quad chairlift mainly serves as a connector for those trying to get back to the East Village. However, it also services a couple of smaller trails.

While it didn’t all open yesterday, this expansion adds 300 acres of new skiable terrain. The terrain expansion totals 20 new runs, which includes an extension of the McHenery piste. These runs are of beginner and intermediate variety. This expansion includes a few new runs that start from the top of Bald Mountain and connect to Deer Valley’s East Village.

This expansion also provides guests with an additional place to park. Located directly off US Route 189, it currently provides an additional 500 parking spaces.

The third new chairlift, the Hoodoo Express, is scheduled to open sometime this season. This chairlift services Prospect, a beginner run that will become a new learning area for Deer Valley.

After that, six more lifts will open next winter, including a massive gondola with ten-person cabins. That phase will add nearly 100 new runs and 700 more parking spaces in the East Village. When fully complete, Deer Valley will have 238 trails and 37 lifts.
