Snowcoach in Yellowstone National Park.
Snowcoach in Yellowstone National Park.

The winter may not seem like the most ideal time to visit Yellowstone National Park. Visitation numbers usually sit below 100,000 for each month throughout the winter, with the numbers dropping sharply after October. But the winter can still be a pretty incredible time for a visit.

A transformed landscape, significantly less crowds, and plenty of wildlife can great those who choose to visit in the snowy months. While many roads are closed to vehicles, snowmobile and snowcoach tours can take tourists to places many will never see while covered in a dusting of white.

There are several companies that offer snowcoach tours throughout the winter. A full list of both authorized snowcoach and authorized snowmobile tour companies is available through the Yellowstone National Park website.
