The body of a 27-year-old man was located via drone by the Boulder Emergency Squad in the area of the Third Flatiron in Boulder County Colorado. The man’s death is the second to take place on the famous rock formations in less than a week.

The 27-year-old was known to be scrambling in the area on December 17. His failure to return home was reported by his sister on December 18, and the body was located at around 12:10pm that day. The recovery effort, conducted with the expertise of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, took approximately 8.5 hours.

On December 16 at around 9:00pm, Boulder County Sheriff responded to reports of an overdue hiker around the Second Flatiron. The 42-year-old hiker was supposed to return home by dark, but had failed to do so.

Friends of the individual conducted a search and found the man deceased on a rock ledge on the Second Flatiron. The identity of both victims is currently being withheld.

Our thoughts go out to the friends and family of the deceased at this time.
