Chris Tomer snowfall forecast for the Northeast.
Chris Tomer snowfall forecast for the Northeast.

The dry spell in the west looks like it might be continuing for a bit longer, with just a little bit of snowfall forecasted over the next 10 days in the Rockies and basically nothing forecasted for California. December 10-15 could bring a good amount of snowfall to Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee (15-18 inches) in addition to Mount Baker up in Washington (22 inches), but it’s the East Coast ski resorts that look to be having the most fun over the next 10 days if Chris Tomer’s forecast comes true.

Meteorologist Chris Tomer has around 20 years of experience in winter weather consulting, assisting on expeditions around the world (including for expeditions to some of the tallest peaks on the planet). His winter weather updates provide detailed snow forecasts for outdoor lovers around North America, helping skiers, snowboarders, and any other snow sport lovers to prepare for the coming weeks.

Tomer is tracking four snowstorms heading into the Northeast, the first three of which are fairly light. There’s potential for some snowfall on 12/7, 12/8, and between 12/9-12/10, but the biggest snowfall potential looks like it will hit around 12/11. Through those different snowfalls, several Vermont ski areas look like they could see a foot or more of new snow accumulation, including Jay Peak, Stowe, Sugarbush, and Mad River Glen. Other northern New England resorts won’t completely miss out, with Sugarloaf, Sunday River, and Cranmore looking at around 6″ over the next 10 days.
