Death on Mount Everest is not an uncommon sight. According to Climbing Kilimanjaro, over 300 people have died on the mountain, while around 200 bodies remain on the mountain today. Many of those deaths, around one-third, were of Sherpa climbers as they work on the mountain.
Sherpas on Everest are often paid to prepare the route for incoming climbers, fixing the ropes and bringing necessary gear up the mountain to build up the different camps. They also tend to guide people up the mountain, helping them to reach the summit and make their way back down. They risk their lives to make sure others make it up and down the world’s tallest mountain safely, and sometimes that means literally dragging someone out of a crevasse, like in the situation below.
This is a pretty lengthy video, ranging from when the person falls to when the crew successfully pulls the person back up onto the ground. But it’s a very impressive clip to watch.
“Sherpas are the real heroes. Saving human is the highest form of achievement. Especially in adverse situations. Nothing can even come closer to it. Hats off to the Sherpa. We are really thank full to who are involve this rescue mission especially I would like to thank Mr,Narendra Thakuri IMFGA guide.”
