Connecticut’s Mohawk Mountain Ski Area has officially set its opening day for this Friday, December 6, for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding. Lifts will spin from 12pm to 4pm on Friday and 8:30am to 4pm on Saturday & Sunday.
Mohawk Mountain is just open for the weekend, and will close again Monday-Thursday of next week. Those with Indy Passes and weekday season passes will be able to access the mountain while they operate on a weekend only schedule.
Mohawk is home to a 650 foot vertical drop with 112 total skiable acres. There are 27 trails across the mountain, the longest of which is 1.25 miles long and all of which are snowmaking capable. At night, the resort offers skiing on 16 trails.
The ski area is not officially the first to open for the season in Connecticut. On Black Friday, skiers and snowboarders were able to ride on snow at Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort. Powder Ridge is closed for the time being, but snowmakers are working to reopen the park by Friday night.
