Killington, Vermont – After being in the lead following the first run and a great start to her second run, Mikaela Shiffrin crashed into the b-netting in the Giant Slalom World Cup event at Killington Resort.

Shiffrin was assessed on the slope and taken down by toboggan. Mikaela was the final racer of the second run, with Sweeden’s Sara Hector winning today’s GS.

A few hours after the crash, Mikaela Shiffrin shared a video update of her status. She was reportedly stabbed by something during the crash sequence, resulting in an abrasion. While it’s not “cause for concern,” she won’t participate in tomorrow’s Slalom World Cup event.

This morning, the U.S. Ski Team provided an update on Shiffrin’s status. She didn’t suffer any ligament, bone, or organ damage. However, she does have a puncture wound and major muscle trauma to the right side of her abdomen.

We’ll keep you posted on any updates regarding Shiffrin’s status going forward.
