Princeton, Massachusetts — The Wachusett community is mourning as their legendary co-owner passed away this week.

Yesterday, Wachusett Mountain announced that longtime co-owner David Crowley has passed away following a decade-long battle with PSP. According to the Mayo Clinic, “progressive supranuclear palsy is a rare brain disease that affects walking, balance, eye movements and swallowing.” There is no cure for this disease.

His legacy is ginormous, as he played a noticeable part in shaping Wachusett and the ski industry. David’s leadership helped grow the Massachusetts ski resort into a national brand. Some of his legacy projects included leading Wachusett’s award-winning marketing efforts (aka creating memorable ads like the “Waaaa-Wa-Wachusett” jingle), offering affordable season passes, having the idea for Mountain Suites at the base lodge, building up the ski resort’s Food & Beverage Department, bringing back the MBTA Ski Train, and being in many leadership roles locally and across the ski industry. Wachusett will devote this season to honoring David and fighting PSP. Wachusett wrote an obituary detailing David’s legacy, which can be read here.

We here at Unofficial Networks send our thoughts and prayers to the Crowley family and the Wachusett community during this challenging time.
