Weighing in at a scant 19.3 ounces, the Ski Rescue Tarp ($375) by HYPERLITE Mountain Gear was developed with testing done by American Mountain Guide Association members. It’s primary use is getting injured backcountry skiers out of danger but can double as a protective ground cover or a shelter in an emergency situation.
HYPERLITE chose ALUULA Durlyte fabric for its construction which features the same material properties as a ski base. When framed up with skis, the tarp can be made into improvised gurney that glides across snow to evacuate an injured skier from the backcountry to seek medical attention.
