The 77-year-old Geny Hess is a true legend of the Swiss Alps where he has spent over 50 years on the slopes of Engelberg. When Genny isn’t heading Engelberg’s avalanche task or running his wine shop Hess Selection in town, he can be found doing what he loves best, chasing powder turns.
Geny grew up in Engelberg and seen the place change from a deserted mountain where he could find fresh tracks a week after a snowstorm to its development into a European freeride mecca. Some consider Geny as the oldest freerider in the world but he isn’t worried about maintaining his reputation and scoring lines like he did in his youth. Now Geny is content just being active in nature and staying fully immersed in the moment.
Incredible guy, definitely inspirational to everyone who wants to keep skiing powder at at an age when most are content with relaxing in an armchair:.
