Sugarloaf.
Sugarloaf.

I grew up both skiing and mountain biking at Sugarloaf in Maine. When I was still riding there, the trails were fairly separate from the ski resort. Combining them with the Maine Huts and Trails network made for endless adventure. But it always felt like the resort needed to add more actual on-mountain riding. Perhaps some lift served riding.

On-mountain riding has seen some solid work alongside the West Mountain expansion, and now in 2025, the Sugarloaf Bike Park is looking ready to open. Lift-accessed mountain biking is set to be included in the bike park, but the mountain hasn’t specifically stated whether or not that will start next summer. Either way, some sweet riding is coming to Sugarloaf.

Sugarloaf will also see some major new features heading into this ski season. West Mountain, which officially opened this past winter, will see two new trails open to skiers and snowboarders, Twitcher and Yarder. Additionally 2,900 feet of snowmaking pipe on the Main West Mountain has been upgraded, and several terrain parks around the mountain will see some proper change.
